Fundamentals of Strength Training

This course is designed primarily for certified personal trainers as well as serious fitness enthusiasts who may not yet be actively employed in the health & fitness industry but wish to gain foundational knowledge & skills in strength training.

This course will simplify key learning areas so that students build confidence and competence in the basics of strength training.

Module 1 – Anatomy For Strength Training

1. Identify and understand components of human anatomy that allow for effective strength training.

2. Understand the essential body positions and biomechanical principles that strength training requires.

Module 2 – Movement Patterns

1. Develop an in-depth understanding of the main movement patterns that are fundamental to the development of strength. Learn how to assess, troubleshoot, and correct common faults in the main strength training movements using a framework of human movement and body positions.

2. Understand why strength training is essential no matter your health and fitness goals, whether it’s becoming stronger, looking better aesthetically, performing better in your sport, or preventing and rehabbing injuries.

3. Learn how to accommodate your own, or your client’s unique leverages to best perform the barbell movements safely and effectively.

Module 3 – Training Principles

1. This module will give you an in-depth understanding of the different training principles such as volume, frequency, and intensity and how they will carry you through your strength training journey.

2. Learn how to structure and design a training program that caters to any level – beginner / intermediate / advanced. Develop an understanding of how to start, progress, and troubleshoot your training across a period of time in order to keep yourself, or your clients progressing in the long term.

Joshua Kong

Joshua has been working as a coach in the fitness industry for over 6 years and has over 12 years of training experience across body building, and powerlifting.

Joshua is currently working as a coach and group fitness instructor at Techniq Training, holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science and is an NCSF Certified Personal Trainer. He’s now sharing his knowledge and love for strength training by teaching the Fundamentals of Strength Course in collaboration with Techniq Training and Fit Asia!
